ViaJCart Order processing requirements:

We offer every possible way available on the Internet of sending orders from the ViaJCart that runs on the client's machine to the site's server.

To make sure ViaJCart will run correctly on your site you need to have one of the following:

Ability to run custom CGI/Perl scripts in your own cgi-bin ("cgibin", "cgi", "cgiwrap") directory and have access to the "sendmail" program. The "sendmail" program comes standard with Unix servers. The NT servers must have similar program available to send email messages from the CGI/Perl scripts. Many NT servers utilize free utility Blat.exe or purchase the "sendmail" program. Ask your provider for these options. We recommend to setup CGI order processing method.

OR

Ability to connect to SMTP server directly from the cart. If you have SMTP server running on the same machine where web server is running and there are no restrictions to send email using that server you can utilize this option without need for CGI scripts. Ask your provider for this option or test the cart yourself to see if it will work. Notice that many providers have restrictions for this option because of the SPAM problem.

OR

Ability to FTP orders to the site. Almost all providers give you FTP access to your site so that you can upload your pages and images. The ViaJCart can use the same FTP connection to upload orders to your site. This way you can get by without CGI scripts or SMTP mail server. The email will not be send to you with this option. You will need to check your site regularly for new orders. Some providers give you limited FTP access and do not allow certain FTP commends to execute that this cart needs (specifically PASV command). If this is the case you will not be able to use this option as well. The FTP server MUST run on the same computer as web server otherwise you will get Java security error. The best thing is to test the process since many providers don't even know what type of FTP server restrictions they have.
